Only a win will satisfy manager Tim Dixon when he takes Hythe Town to face fellow strugglers Redhill this weekend.

Hythe, hovering immediately above the Ryman League Division 1 South relegation zone, are one place and five points above Redhill.

But the Surrey side have three games in hand over the Cannons so the result on Saturday will have huge implications for the relegation dogfight.

Dixon said: "It’s a cup game for us. We’ve got to try to win it, that’s how we’re approaching it. We’ve got to get three points or at the least come away with a point.

"But really, we’ve got to be getting maximum points against the teams around us."

Hythe’s predicament was made worse on Saturday when their home game against Carshalton was postponed because of a waterlogged pitch.

They were leapfrogged by Walton Casuals, who won 4-3 at Sittingbourne, while Redhill closed the gap below them with a 5-1 win over Corinthian Casuals.

Dixon said: "It’s a massive game for both of us on Saturday. They’re playing catch-up – they’ve had some postponements, so I hope it’s on – but we go there with a bit of confidence.

"In our last few games – Worthing, Folkestone, Hastings and Ramsgate – we haven’t done badly. We’ve got a little bit of confidence and strengthened as well.

"We’ve got a better group of players now and we’re waiting to unleash Shaun Welford to see what sort of form he’s in."
