Tim Dixon is now more than halfway through his first season in charge of Hythe Town and his verdict so far is simple: not good enough.

Cannons have picked up 25 points from 24 games in Ryman League Division 1 South, having lost almost half of those and won just six.

They remain dangerously close to the relegation zone and Dixon, who succeeded Scott Porter in May, knows things have to change.

He said: "It’s not good enough, pure and simple.

"There have been games where we deserved points and we’ve not got them but the table doesn’t lie and points on the board is what matters. We’ve not been good enough,

"Yes, we came into it at the beginning of the season but there have been some lacklustre performances – as well as some good performances.

"We need to be better, approaching the second half of the season, otherwise it’s going to be a long, hard slog to the end. We’ve had a lot of single-goal defeats recently and they’re the ones you’ve got to turn into draws. That’s disappointing.

"We’re just not good enough at the moment to get a string of results together."
