Tim Dixon insists he has nothing to prove when he takes Hythe Town to face his former club Ramsgate on Saturday.

Dixon was sacked by the Rams in February after almost two years in charge at Southwood.

He made a quick return to management in May when he succeeded outgoing Cannons boss Scott Porter and now he’s gearing up for his first competitive return to Southwood.

Dixon said: "I have no point to prove. They know what I’m like as a manager and I thought I did well over there.

"I turned it round and made things more professional.

"I saw a lot of their people on Saturday (Dixon watched Ramsgate’s 5-2 defeat at Folkestone) and I’ve got no problem with them. I didn’t do anything wrong, after all."

Both clubs are battling for survival in Ryman League Division 1 South. Ramsgate are just one place and two points above the drop zone while Hythe, who have played two games more, are five points better off.

Dixon said: "This time last year, they (Hythe) went on a good run from a similar position and ended up eighth.

"That’s what we’ve told the players – there’s no reason why we can’t go on a similar run."

Jamie Collado has been struggling with a foot injury but should be fit, although John Walker (hamstring) is unavailable.
