Hythe manager Tim Dixon knew his side should have beaten Sittingbourne in Tuesday's Kent derby.

Goals from Joe Nwoko and Nick Dunsdon handed the Brickies a smash-and-grab 2-1 win at Reachfields, where Hythe had the lion's share of possession and chances.

But they failed to capitalise while they were on top.

Dixon said: "I think we had about 25 chances on goal. We hit the bar twice and the keeper’s made two world-class saves to keep them in the game. They weren’t much of a threat to us.

"Other than the first 20 minutes, I thought we were very good. We kept the ball well and there was only one team in it, really.

"But like I said to the lads at half-time, these games have got a an awful habit of coming back and biting you on the backside if you don’t kill teams off – and that’s how it proved.

"We hit the bar, (Adam) Molloy pulled one out of the top corner – how he saved that, I don’t know – there was a volley he tipped onto the bar and we had another couple of really good chances as well.

"But we’ve got to be a bit more clinical as well as the keeper making fantastic saves. We’ve got to be clinical.

"Sam Conlon had a couple of chances. There were chances all over the pitch, Burchy (Josh Burchell) was the same, he got himself into a couple of good positions and screwed a shot wide when he should have hit the target."

Hythe are at home to Corinthian Casuals on Saturday.
