Chris Kinnear says joining Hythe Town has helped him start enjoying his football again.
Kinnear moved from Dover to Tonbridge last summer but left Longmead at the turn of the year because of "internal issues."
He accepted Clive Cook's offer to drop down to Bostik South and is loving life with the Cannons.
"I've really enjoyed it," Kinnear said. "There was a managerial change a couple of weeks after I arrived; Clive was a nice guy, I signed for him and the new guy (Sam Denly) has come in and he's a nice guy as well.
"It's going well and we've had some very good results, which is always helpful.
"It's a really good set of lads and it's fun. I turn up to football and I'm enjoying it. I know it's going to be a good laugh.
"Everyone's serious about it but there's a good balance between it being enjoyable and the winning aspect.
"We seem to be winning a lot of games at the moment and that's always more enjoyable. That's a factor in why I'm enjoying it because most weeks we're winning."
Seventh-placed Hythe moved to within four points of the play-offs with a 2-1 win at Molesey on Tuesday night.
Kinnear said: "When I first came in, we'd be dominating games but drawing them whereas now we're taking the chances. Goals change games and that's certainly the case.
"We've got a real good team spirit. Some games we mightn't be playing at our best or down to 10 men and we'll all dig in for each other to get through it. Even with 10 men, we're winning games.
"We've got the belief. There's been games where we've gone behind and come back to win and that's testament to the fact we won't accept being beaten.
"We keep fighting to the end and that'll be the case with the play-off race as well. We're not going to give in, we'll carry on right to the end and you never know.
"We've got all the momentum and one of the results went our way at the weekend (Walton Casuals losing) so if we can keep closing the gap, we'll see where it takes us.
"Playing here does suit me. When I left Tonbridge, I had a couple of offers from Conference South and I've had promotion out of that league before but the travelling was too much.
"Bostik South, is a good fit for me, balancing football and my job with a football agency.
"It was only nine months ago that I was playing National League but with work commitments, I've dropped down and it's a decent standard.
"There's a lot of good players in the league, some just haven't had the opportunity yet and there's other people with work commitments in this league who could be playing higher."
Hythe are away to Whyteleafe, the side immediately below them, on Saturday.
