Reachfields hosts a Kent derby this weekend which will have big implications at both ends of Ryman League Division 1 South.

Relegation-threatened Hythe Town can take a step closer to safety with a home win over Whitstable Town.

But league points are of equal importance to the Oystermen, who are battling to grab the final play-off spot.

Hythe manager Tim Dixon said: "It’s a massive Kent derby because they’re pushing for the play-offs.

"The top-four look pretty secure but that last place is still open and they’re still in the hunt for it.

"There are two very different scenarios here but you’ve got two teams who need the points as much as each other."

Hythe are looking for their third win over Whitstable this season. They knocked the Oystermen out of the FA Cup in September, winning 4-0 at Reachfields, before claiming a 2-0 league win at the Belmont the following month.

Dixon said: "We’ve had a lot of joy against them but they’ve not been easy games.

"We put in a couple of solid performances against them, especially in the FA Cup, but they’re flying at the moment. They had a good win on Saturday (4-1 against Sittingbourne).

"Jim (Ward) will get them fired up because he’ll want to get a bit of revenge back on us because of the two defeats."
