Hythe Town manager Tim Dixon wary of Ryman League Division 1 South newcomers East Grinstead Town

Hythe boss Tim Dixon says his team must be wary of newly-promoted East Grinstead Town this weekend.

The West Sussex side are playing Ryman League football for the first time in their 94-year history after finishing second in the Sussex League last season.

Dixon, whose first two games in charge of Town were against Burgess Hill and Herne Bay, is now gearing up for a very different challenge.

He said: "Any new club from Sussex or Surrey normally does very well in this league. Crawley Down, Three Bridges and Redhill all came up and did well.

"If you look at the results from Saturday, none of the new teams lost. East Grinstead drew, South Park won and Whyteleafe won.

"It’s always difficult when a new team comes in. There’s no fear from them, they’re playing with no pressure at all.

"You’ve got to treat them with respect when they first come into the league. They’re always difficult games, it doesn’t matter who it is.

"Some teams go straight through this league and into the Premier Division. They’re an unknown quantity."
