Sam Denly says no-one will want to play Hythe Town if they gatecrash the play-offs.

Cannons have spent most of this season outside the top-six in Bostik South but are flying right now.

Four wins and a draw from their last five games have closed the gap between Hythe and the sides above them and their 2-1 win over promotion rivals Cray Wanderers on Saturday, achieved with 10 men, shows they really mean business.

“We’re staying in the mix and we’ve given ourselves a chance,” said Denly, who replaced Clive Cook as manager in January.

“We’ve got to win games of football if we want to get there but we’re doing that.

“We’ve won five since I’ve been there, lost one and drawn one, so that’s play-off form.

“We’re in the top five for form at the moment and we’re sending out a statement every week.

“If we keep putting big performances in, people will take notice of us, seeing we’re on a good run.

“Like I’ve said to the boys, if we can get ourselves in and around it, there’s every chance we could sneak in and no-one would want to play us because, on our day, we’re more than capable of beating anyone and we’re showing that at the moment.”

Hythe host Sittingbourne on Saturday before travelling to lowly Molesey on Tuesday night.
