In-form Hythe will be out to do the double over title-chasing Beckenham this Saturday.
The Cannons, held to a 1-1 home draw last weekend against Three Bridges, visit the play-off occupants, who still harbour ambitions of winning Isthmian South East.
But Steve Watt’s ninth-placed troops had been on a five-match winning streak before being held last time out and they are on the fringes of the play-offs themselves.
And while the Hythe boss knows it’ll be a tough game, he thinks there’s nothing to fear after they beat Beckenham at Reachfields in October.
Watt said: “We beat them 3-0 earlier in the season at our place. It was one of our best performances.
“They are not only trying to win promotion - they’re trying to win the league. We know the task we have in front of us.
“They’ve had a couple of slip-ups recently, but there’s never a good time to play these sides. But we will worry about ourselves.
“As much as we know we’re in for a tough game, they also know that. We will try and win the game - like we always do.
“We’re having a great run. We will do what we do and, hopefully, that’s good enough.”
Hythe sit top of the recent form guide, not that their boss pays much attention to it.
“We take every game as it comes,” noted Watt, whose outfit are at East Grinstead on Tuesday night.
“I don’t really look at form guides. Form guides don’t really matter - that’s in the past.
“We’re very much looking forward.
"Obviously, we’re in good form but that doesn’t mean anything, going into Saturday.”
Liam Smith’s second-half strike looked to have set the Cannons on their way to another victory against Three Bridges, only for a comical late own goal by goalkeeper Steve Phillips to force them to settle for a share of the spoils.
A ball into a crowded penalty area by substitute Cameron Lawson met the head of defender Jason Fregene, with the ball hitting Phillips in the face and trickling over the line.
“I think we deserved all three points,” reflected Watt. “We were unlucky.
“They had a couple of chances but, apart from that, they didn’t have anything in the game. The wind was a big factor.
“First half, we completely dominated and could - and should - have been two or three goals to the good. We got the breakthrough after half-time.
“Then we conceded a bit of a blooper goal.”
That draw came after last Tuesday’s 1-0 triumph over Burgess Hill was earned by a fourth-minute goal from captain Smith.
Fregene, who came off injured against the Hillians, dropped to the bench against Three Bridges while midfielder Jarred Trespaderne was unavailable.
But Watt says he hopes to have a full squad to choose from ahead of back-to-back away fixtures.
