Manager Clive Cook has backed striker Jerson Dos Santos to be a smash hit at Hythe Town.
Dos Santos joined the club earlier this month when it became clear Kenny Pogue was on his way out of Reachfields.
Pogue scored 21 goals in 50 appearances for the Cannons but Cook isn’t worried about how they will cope without him.
He said: "Kenny lives in Eastbourne and his car failed its MOT so he didn’t have a car.
"He was struggling for transport to get to the ground so he went the easy route for himself and his family and decided he wanted something closer to home.
"We’ll live with that and we’ve got a brilliant replacement in Jerson dos Santos. He’ll be great for us.
"He’s strong, powerful, quick, got a great attitude, smashing guy, trains hard and wants to win everything, even in training. He wants to do well and he just wants to win football matches. I really think he’s going to be great for us. He’s a good centre-forward.
"He scored 30 goals for Sutton United about three years ago and then he drifted, played his football in Iceland for a while as a full-timer. He came back, went to Corinthian Casuals and we played them a couple of times last year and twice this year.
"He was always a threat so when I knew about the Kenny thing, I thought ‘I need to press on’ so I put a seven-dayer in and Jerson came to us.
"I was pleased with that acquisition."
Hythe are eighth in Bostik South after a 3-0 win at home to Faversham on Tuesday night.
They travel to fourth-placed Sittingbourne on Saturday.
