Hythe Town have announced the arrival of an experienced centre-back with Football League experience.

The Isthmian League club have signed former Hereford, Luton and Northampton defender Dean Beckwith.

Beckwith started out as a youth player with Gillingham and turned professional there, making two first team appearances.

He went onto play for Hereford over four seasons, between 2005-2009, helping them win a place into the Football League through the play-offs.

He subsequently went onto play in the league for Northampton before dropping back into the non-league scene at Luton. Since then he’s been at Maidstone, Sutton United and most recently Havant & Waterloovile.
