Summer signing Dan Parkinson may not play for Hythe Town again this season after damaging his cruciate knee ligaments.

Parkinson suffered the injury during Saturday’s 3-3 draw with Horsham and is facing months on the sidelines.

The Cannons picked up another serious injury at Ramsgate on Monday when Ben Wilson was forced off during their 3-0 defeat.

Manager Clive Cook is working hard to bring replacements in but with Hythe’s next game an FA Cup tie against Leatherhead on Saturday, he may find that difficult.

Cook said: "I’ve got a few injuries. We had a bad one on Saturday and another bad one on Monday.

"Dan Parkinson has done his cruciate so he’ll be out for quite a long time. I wouldn’t be surprised if we don’t see him again this season.

"Ben Wilson tore his top muscle on his leg and that’s going to be a few months.

"Squad-wise, it is a blow so I’m trying to sort out a couple of players. I was always going to do that anyway because we needed to strengthen but there’s more urgency now.

"The problem I’ve got is the players I need are cup-tied. I will still bring them in but the league’s the priority.

"I need to get a reaction for Saturday and the players I’m looking at are still in the cup so they won’t let them go until they go out of the cup."

Hythe are 14th in the early Ryman League Division 1 South table while Leatherhead are fifth-bottom in the Premier Division.

The winners of Saturday’s first qualifying round tie at Reachfields will collect £3,000 in prize money.

Cook said: "I still fancy it because we’ve got a bit about us when we’re down. The boys’ heads were down on Monday but it won’t take long for them to come back up.

"It’s finished now, we move on and we’ve got to go out and do our business. The hardest thing is strengthening for Saturday because people are not about.

"Dave Cook’s away and that does not help because he’s a main player for us. He’s a massive miss because of his work-rate and his want to win the game.

"Sometimes when you’re not playing well you need people to dig in and have the attitude to grind out a result.

"Sometimes that doesn’t happen when you’re missing main players."
