Clive Cook says Hythe face ‘must-win’ games against two of the league’s lesser lights if they are to keep their own sparkling run going.
After six straight league wins Town embark on trips to struggling Three Bridges on Saturday (3pm) and Chipstead on Tuesday (7.45pm) knowing a six-point haul would go a long way to establishing the Cannons in the top-three of Ryman League Division 1 South – with games in hand.
Cook claimed: “They are tricky games. They’ll be fighting for points to get them up the table. They are games we’ve got to win though – must-wins really.
“Three Bridges are a young team this year, I’ve never had much luck up there and it’s a horrible pitch. It’s one of those where you want to just get in, get the result and move on.”
He added: “We have got that winning mentality at the moment, the lads are buzzing, we are looking forward to games. We want to keep it going.
“We are playing Saturday-Tuesday until December and we have got a run of home games coming up after these next two and a huge November.
“They look like some big games now, but if we don’t win our next few suddenly they aren’t so big.”
Kenny Pogue will miss the game after picking up a one-game ban for five bookings but should return for Tuesday’s trip to Chipstead.
Town won 2-1 at Haringey Borough on Saturday to progress to the first qualifying round of the FA Trophy on October 29 when they will host Walton Casuals, the side who knocked them out of the FA Cup last month in a game Town led with four minutes to go.
Cook said: “We did what we had to do on Saturday, even if we could have buried them by half-time.
“We had to see it out in the end but it was good for the club, the money is good and it means we get to play Walton Casuals again. We definitely owe them one. That game will get the boys going. It’s a chance for payback.”
