Tim Dixon admits that Hythe Town’s Easter Monday home derby with Folkestone Invicta is already looming large on the horizon.
The Hythe manager is hoping that the clash, which attracted 850 spectators to the Fullicks Stadium when Folkestone won 1-0 on Boxing Day, will give a similar boost to the Reachfields coffers as Dixon starts planning how to strengthen his squad for next season.
But before the Folkestone game Hythe must first negotiate two tricky away fixtures, at Walton Casuals this weekend and then at Worthing the following Saturday, as they continue their pursuit of a top-10 finish.
Dixon said: “I will be looking for two good performances at Walton Casuals and Worthing to help boost the crowd for the Folkestone game, but I know they won’t be easy matches.
“Although Casuals won last Saturday they are still in a dangerous area and scrapping for every point while Worthing held Folkestone to a draw at the weekend and are a young and up-and-coming side.”
Hythe too, had to settle for a point last Saturday after drawing 2-2 with Tooting & Mitcham in an eventful game at Reachfields which saw striker Shaun Welford grab a late equaliser for Town after heading the ball into his own net just 30 seconds earlier.
Dixon said: “It would have been an absolute travesty if we hadn’t got something out of the game, especially as the Tooting centre-half should have been sent off in the first half, but they aren’t a bad side and it was a hard-earned point.”
