Hythe Town’s squad will be playing for their futures in the final six weeks of the season.

A terrific run of results since New Year’s Day has carried the Cannons to the brink of safety in Ryman League Division 1 South.

They beat Horsham 4-0 on Saturday and won 6-1 at Corinthian Casuals on Tuesday to move into the top half of the table for the first time this season.

But manager Tim Dixon doesn’t want them slacking off and already has one eye on the 2015/16 campaign.

He said: "I don’t want to be complacent. I hate this ‘typical end-of-season game stuff’. That’s rubbish. As far as I’m concerned, players are playing for their places for next season.

"I don’t want things to peter out just because we feel comfortable. There are still points to be won and I still think we need a few more points.

"There are certain things I want to put in place before the start of next season, including the youth side of things.

"We’ve got one eye on that and the board want to stick with me, providing we keep some of these players. I want this group to stay together because our run, since January 1, has been good.

"The potential is there. We may have to improve in one or two areas but it’s not looking bad and there’s a positive vibe."
