New signings could be just around the corner at Hythe Town but manager Tim Dixon won’t break the bank to drag his team up the table.
After a week of FA Cup commitments, Hythe return to league action with two difficult away games in the next seven days.
The Cannons are second-bottom in Ryman League Division 1 South ahead of trips to Carshalton Athletic (Saturday) and Faversham Town (Tuesday).
And their manager is back in the transfer market.
Dixon said: "Everyone’s getting their chance at the moment but whether they’re good enough, that remains to be seen. That’s not a threat to the players but we need to be better all over the pitch.
"The players are getting a chance to prove themselves but if I feel I need to make changes, I will do it – within the budget.
"The players I may bring in will reflect the budget and I may need to release a couple of players to do that.
"It’s all about juggling the budget. You’ve got to be careful with what you bring in.
"There are certain players who are just not within your budget and the club, long-term, is more important than being second-bottom or trying to get through an FA Cup replay."
