PAUL FISK admits he is starting to believe that Hythe Town might be good enough to win the Kent League.
Seven points from three games including wins at Herne Bay and Faversham in the past week preserved their unbeaten run, and leaves them 10 clear of fourth placed Erith & Belvedere who left Reachfields with a point on Saturday.
Fisk said: “We are beginning to believe it more and more, and if we do that we can do something about making it happen. We were top last season with 10 games and then faltered, and we want to put that right.
“There is a long way to go, but it’s a nice start.”
Town face Sporting Bengal in the Bulmers Cider Kent League Cup on Saturday, the first of two legs on successive weekends, and Fisk is pleased the league have reverted to this format, rather than groups.
“There were too many meaningless games, and I think this is better. We probably don’t need any more games.”
Fisk has several injury worries including last season’s league top scorer Buster Smissen who is waiting to undergo a knee operation.
Hythe could have Sam Marsh back but wait on the fitness of the influential Lee Winfield.
