Hythe got back to winning ways on Saturday as they beat Slade Green 3-0 to return to the top of the Bulmers Cider Kent League Premier Division.

Inspired by a man-of-the-match performance from midfielder Lee Winfield and boosted by the early return of goalscoring supremo Buster Smissen, Paul Fisk’s men rewarded the home crowd with an excellent display but they had to wait until the second half to score their goals.

The opener did not arrive until the hour mark when Winfield’s free-kick found its way to Mo Takaloo who scored with a header.

Two minutes later, the lead was doubled when Jason Brazier forced the ball home after Dave Cook’s header from a Takaloo cross rebounded off of the crossbar.

Guiver completed the victory with a back-heel from a Winfield centre, before Smissen made his return as substitute just in time to force Green defender Tarik Ozresberoglu into a rash challenge from which he saw red.
