Hythe Town will look to build on their opening day Kent League triumph against Sevenoaks when they travel to Sussex County League Division 1 side Pagham on Saturday, in the Extra Preliminary of the FA Cup.
Town’s opponents have also started their season in good form, winning their first two games 2-0 away at Oakwood on Saturday and 4-1 at home to East Preston on Tuesday evening.
The reward for the winners is a home tie with Ryman League Division One South outfit Walton and Hersham, and prize money of £750, a 50 percent mark up on last year’s amount.
Hythe will be confident of progress having sewpt Pagham aside 6-2 in the FA Vase in September 2005 and also won their only other previous encounter.
Manager Paul Fisk has a difficult test selecting his starting line-up after the success of several of the newcomers that are bidding to step up the grade into the Kent League this season.
They were delighted to welcome back attacking midfielder Dave Cook after his brief period with neighbours Invicta as he was man of the match in the win over Sevenoaks on Saturday.
But there was another good display from substitute Craig Southern, one of the group who have joined the club from Ashford’s Bromley Green side and Gary Mickelborough also looked lively coming on late in the game for talisman striker Buster Smissen.
