Hythe boss Clive Cook is eyeing an FA Cup run to match the club’s historic appearance in the first round six years ago.
Cook was Scott Porter’s assistant in 2010-11 when Town made it through six rounds and played Football League side Hereford United at Edgar Street.
Hythe, then a Kent League club, made national headlines that year and Cook would love to take them on another adventure.
The Cannons knocked out Leatherhead on Saturday and they will fancy their chances of getting past league rivals Walton Casuals at Reachfields next weekend.
Cook said: "I want the players to experience what I experienced with Scott, the first round of the FA Cup proper.
"I was there as assistant manager and Scott Porter put that football club on the map, no doubt about it.
"I’d love to experience what he must have experienced as a manager at that stage. That’s my drive.
"That was Scott’s team. Yes, we were all part of the team but he experienced it as a manager and I experienced it as an assistant manager.
"The further you go, the more exciting it gets. As long as it doesn’t take your eye off the league form, that’s the thing for me.
"The league is the bread and butter and the cup is a great time to have.
"I always say to them ‘you’re not going to win it but stay in it as long as you can’ because it opens the club right up."
