Zak Ansah’s scintillating form in front of goal is attracting interest from National League South clubs.
Concord and Welling are both keen on the Hythe striker, who has already found the net 13 times this season.
Ansah has scored 33 goals in 29 appearances for the Cannons this year so it’s no surprise he’s in demand.
Hythe manager Sam Denly said: “He had a lot of calls in the summer but wanted to stay.
“He believes we can achieve something this year and if we can keep getting the best out of him, there’s no reason we can’t be at the business end of the league.
“Concord approached us last week about him and I know Welling spoke to him in the summer.
“It wouldn’t surprise me if there’s League clubs looking at him because he’s that good.
“He’s a special talent but he was out of football (before joining Hythe) so it’s important to put things into perspective at times.
“He had injuries and wasn’t even playing. He fell out of love with the game and he wasn’t doing anything.
“All of a sudden, he’s playing with a smile on his face and scoring goals for fun, which is great for him.”
The demands of Ansah’s day job with Sports On Screen – the consultancy company launched by his dad Andy – means playing Bostik League football is a good fit for now.
Denly said: “We’ve had a few approaches come in as of late and that’s going to keep happening if he keeps scoring goals.
“People are going to start taking notice and I’m sure there will be a few clubs interested.
“But he works with his old man and that’s important to him. He travels a bit with that so he’s got a good balance.
“All the time he’s doing what he’s doing, I’m sure he’s going to get a lot of interest and maybe he’ll have a decision to make.
“But he’s been outstanding for us and I think we will keep hold of him.”
Hythe, fifth in Bostik South East, are away to leaders Cray Wanderers on Saturday.
The Wands boast a 100% record and have only conceded one league goal but the Cannons go there in confident mood.
Denly said: “Cray are another good side and they’re unbeaten but so were Hastings when they came to us on Saturday.
“They’re the games you look forward to and we’ll go there full of confidence after a great win on Saturday.”
Ansah scored again as Hythe won 6-0 at Herne Bay in the Velocity Trophy on Tuesday night.
Junior Aikhionbare netted twice and there were also goals for Nigel Neita, Salvyn Kisitu and Jack Sammoutis.
