Former Woking and Aldershot defender Chris Arthur will join Hythe for the start of pre-season training with a view to earning himself a deal.
The 28-year-old is a free agent having played most recently for Kingstonian in Bostik Premier last season.
Hythe boss Sam Denly said: "We've had a few conversations. We haven't agreed any deal and I can't offer much at the moment but he's coming down pre-season as are a few others.
"We're in a good position. With the lads I've already signed and the lads who are coming down to get involved and have a trial, it's exciting.
"I'm happy with the squad but I'm never going to turn players away. You need to have a look at these lads.
"Often in pre-season you pick up one or two gems you weren't expecting. Sam Hasler turned up one pre-season (at Herne Bay) with Jamie O'Connell and what a player he turned out to be for me.
"I'm hopeful that a few diamonds turn up."
Denly's younger brother Joe is playing at Lord's on Saturday as Kent face Hampshire in the Royal London One-Day Cup Final.
"I'm a bit gutted I'm not going," admitted Sam. "All the family are going - the old man got about 15 tickets but (coach) Steve Nolan is in America for the first two weeks of pre-season so I've had to bite the bullet.
"I don't mind people missing things here and there but as the manager, you need to lead by example and if I'm not there on the first day of pre-season, it doesn't put the right message across.
"I'll have one eye on the cricket and hopefully I can catch some of it after the football's finished."
