Hythe Town are preparing for another key game at the bottom of Isthmian South East.
The Cannons dropped into the relegation zone at the weekend despite fighting back from 2-0 down at half-time to draw 2-2 with Littlehampton.
But they have an immediate chance to climb back out at the expense of this Saturday’s opponents, Three Bridges.
The sides meet at Chatham Town’s Maidstone Road ground, where Sussex club Bridges are groundsharing while their new 3G pitch is laid.
Hythe have taken four points from their past two games and hope to continue their improvement.
“It’s the first time we’ve gone back-to-back games without losing,” said manager Nick Davis.
“We’ve got a tough game to come at Three Bridges but they’re another club who are in and around us, so it’s an opportunity to go there and get three points.
“It’s in Kent, so we haven’t got far to travel, and the 3G pitch at Chatham will suit us.
“We like to play and they like to play, so who knows what will happen? This league throws up some random results.
“Anything can happen on the day.”
Hythe fell behind against Littlehampton while skipper Lex Allan was off the pitch following a clash of heads.
Frustratingly, it was Allan’s man who scored, and when Ollie Gray conceded a penalty, Hythe were in trouble.
But Danny Parish scored twice in four minutes early in the second half - his first Hythe goals.
They missed out on a winner but it was a point gained.
“We’ve come out for the second half with real intent, we’ve got the ball wide, caused problems and scored two goals,” said Davis.
“Littlehampton kept going forward, they break with numbers, and you can see why they’ve scored a lot of goals.
“They try to outscore the opposition, which I know is the objective of the game, but they also concede a lot and they concede in clusters as well.
“It was like a basketball game and it looked like there would be a winner either way but I just thought we took our foot off the gas a bit, when we should have gone for them when they were at their most vulnerable.
“But it’s definitely a point gained - I’d have taken that at half-time.
“I was pleased for Danny Parish. They’re his first goals for us and he’s getting there with his fitness.
“We knew if we could get him a chance he would put it away and, lo-and-behold, that’s what he did.
“The first one is a half-chance and the second one has come from a fantastic move, five or six passes where we’ve moved the ball really quickly, got it out wide and crossed it and he’s got on the end of it.”
