PLANS for a £190 million development to complete the regeneration of the former Chatham Dockyard will go on public display next month.
The final phase of the project will cover 27 acres between Chatham Maritime and the main visitors entrance to what is now the Historic Dockyard.
It includes new homes, some of which will be affordable housing, and shops. City Loft Developments has bee awarded the contract.
The latest and final phase is part of an agreement between South East England Development Agency (SEEDA) and Chatham Historic Dockyard Trust.
Jonathan Sadler, SEEDA project director, Thames Gateway, said: "The deal with City Loft Developments has taken three years of careful planning and consideration to ensure the opportunities at the site are maximised while retaining the dockyard’s historical integrity."
Bill Ferris, chief executive of Chatham Historic Dockyard Trust, said: "The agreement we have entered into with City Loft Developments also sees major investment in our heritage assets such as the Mast House, Mould Loft, Mast Pond and monuments.
"It's one which creates sustainable development, enhances the environment and ensures the long-term future of the Historic Dockyard and its surroundings."
Stuart Wright, chief executive of City Lofts Group, said: "We will work closely with SEEDA, the Chatham Historic Dockyard Trust, Medway Council and English Heritage to deliver a scheme which develops under utilised areas of land and brings existing structures back into use."
A three-day exhibition will be held from Wednesday, October 10, to Saturday, October 13. The venue and times will be announced at a later date.
City Loft Developments hopes to present its proposals to the planning sub-committee later this year.
