A DEPOT which operates exclusively for top chain store Marks and Spencer is set to close, with the possible loss of more than 400 jobs.
Staff at Exel, on the Colebrook Industrial Estate, Longfield Road, Tunbridge Wells, have been told a review of distribution centres nationwide means the Tunbridge Wells branch is due to be axed in September.
A 90-day consultation period is being held to see how best to minimise redundancies among the 424-strong workforce, possibly by transferring staff to other locations.
The Tunbridge Wells depot opened in 1987 and supplies 44 Marks and Spencer stores across the South East. Other sites are expected to take on the work after September.
