A Maidstone firm has come up with the perfect Mother's Day treat to enjoy while staying at home.

Restrictions may be easing in the coming months, but in the meantime, while we are unable to take our mums out for the day they deserve, there's a brand new Stay-tasting experience created by Maidstone Distillery to enjoy without leaving the comfort of your house.

With a pre-recorded video, households can link up to be guided through a tutored tasting of the distillery’s two gins; meet Darren and Sam, who founded the company, and hear about the distilling legacy behind them.

Founder Darren Graves said: “So many are stuck at home at the moment, missing out on meeting friends and family, or even just seeing something different than their homes. The stay-tasting offers a chance for a bit of escapism and to try our two delicious gins.

"We hope people will be left smiling, knowing a bit more about us and the care and attention we put into our spirits. For the gin aficionados there are some really interesting insights into gin making too.”

When you sign up for the virtual experience, you'll be sent a pack which includes everything you need to take part and prepare an iconic G&T from their award-winning George Bishop Gin and Ranscombe Wild Gin, in a vintage gin goblet.

You'll be sent a miniature of both the George Bishop and Ranscombe Wild gins; two premium tonics, a dried citrus garnish pack and your very own vintage gin goblet

The distillery already has its first international award for its signature George Bishop London Dry Gin, and is proud to continue the distilling tradition in the County Town, which was famous for producing one of the finest gins in Europe in the 18th century, and later cherry brandy, which was a favourite of Queen Victoria.

The experience gives an insight into George Bishop’s Maidstone Distillery of 1785 as well as an introduction to the modern day distillery; its spirit still and production methods.

Joint founder Sam said: “The virtual experience gives people a chance to experience the distillery while tours are closed, but we even think once the world opens up and tours resume, this could be a great experience for people up and down the country at any time.”

The distillery will also offer a Gin Making Experience, where visitors can select their own botanicals and use a mini spirit still to distil a bottle of gin to take home with them once restrictions are lifted and their distillery tours, which are also currently on hold, have proved popular.

Whatever occasion you're celebrating, you can get together virtually during lockdown, with the experience which costs £28 for one, and £49 for two people. To book one, go to themaidstonedistillery.com

Although the distillery shop in Market Buildings, Maidstone is currently closed, customers can purchase spirits and experiences online at www.themaidstonedistillery.com
