Akhurst Containers will be bringing more of its top-quality containers and modules to Kent after opening two new locations on the Isle of Sheppey, one next to the port at the Dockyard church with IslandWorks and another container Depo in Eastchurch.
The family-owned business, which has specialised in security solutions for buildings at ports and recycling centres across Europe for more than four decades, is a one-stop shop, providing everything from single cabins to entire modular buildings, both new and used, to rent or buy as well as bespoke finishings.
Its durable and long-lasting containers, which are easily modified and can be installed with solar panels, and security systems are used in construction, industry, trade and commerce, as well as by local authorities in schools and offices, in emergency and disaster relief missions, and for events. Other applications include showrooms, bars and even accommodation.
Opening the new site on the Isle of Sheppey has particular significance for owner Jon Akhurst. His family have close ties to the port, with his grandfather and great grandfather having been stationed or working there. His great grandfather’s brother was killed when a ship was blown up just off the coast of Sheerness and his grandfather lost an arm while working in the port.
The new depots in Kent will further strengthen the company’s presence and commitment to serving the local community. As such, it also supports local intiatives such as the Sheerness Dockyard Preservation Trust and the Dockyard Church.
“At Akhurst Containers, we are passionate about the products we offer,” said Akhurst. “Over the years, we have developed and refined our container solutions, ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality, practicality, and environmental friendliness. Our containers are versatile, strong and suitable for a wide range of applications, making them a valuable addition to the UK market.
“I believe in the energy and potential of Kent and its port. Our containers are a testament to this belief, combining durability with eco-friendliness. We are confident that our products will meet the diverse needs of our customers and contribute positively to the local economy.
“We couldn’t have achieved all of this without the loyal support of our friends and family.”
Each of the containers can be customised to the client’s requirements and to suit all budgets. Akhurst Containers will take care of everything, from design and construction to delivery of the container.
Since starting in London and Birmingham four decades ago, Akhurst Containers, which is part of the AMASSS Group and an official trading partner of Containex, has expanded into ports across Europe. Today it is a major player in the portable office and storage container space.
