A commercial property management firm has bought a site in Kent from the government for £3.875m.
Basepoint has acquired the Base Business Centre in Dartford, which it built on behalf of the Homes and Communities Agency in 2010.
The site has been managed by the firm since 2011, accomodating hundreds of small businesses in its office space.
The Homes and Communities Agency sold them the site in Dartford Business Park on Victoria Road as part of a programme of disposing of assets to help economic growth.
Basepoint managing director Brian Andrews said: “We’re delighted to add the Base to our ever-expanding portfolio of business centres across southern England, the Midlands, East Anglia and Wales.
“Having successfully run the Base for three years, it felt like a natural step to purchase the building.
“This centre incorporates a diverse range of licensees who have benefitted from Basepoint’s operational expertise and business support, and I have no doubt that the management team at the centre will make certain it continues to thrive.”
The Base Business Centre has a range of office areas, from one person units to large spaces, including an incubator suite for start-up businesses and a workshop and studios, with superfast broadband and free parking.
Basepoint manages and services offices at 30 sites across the UK and celebrated its 20th anniversary last year.
