Burgess Hodgson, a firm of chartered accountants and business advisers, has helped in the sale of a long-standing Kent business.

The Canterbury-based firm was the lead advisor to the Abird Group, a diesel electric generator hire company based in Sandwich, in its sale to HSS, a leading national supplier of tools.

Abird senior management team led by managing director Chris Anspack will stay with the company to enhance its position as a market leader in diesel generator hire.

Principal shareholder John Bird and his family exit the business after selling their stake to HSS.

The Abird Group, founded 50 years ago, has seven depots employing 60 people across England and Wales. It will continue to operate under its own brand.
