A long-established fit out and paint finishing business that worked on Olympic contracts has changed its name and image with the help of an American expert.

Lucas, based in Wrotham, brings together S. Lucas and Lucas Fit Out under a single trading identity.

It has been created by Rob Janoff, a celebrated American corporate brand designer responsible for developing the Apple logo for Steve Jobs in the late 1970s.

The new Lucas logo will now appear on all company vehicles, signage and fascias, uniforms, publications and stationery.

The new corporate logo consists of three elements. The letter L representing Lucas, a cube representing the spaces that the company transforms, and an upward-pointing arrow symbolising positivity and transformation.

The new Lucas colours are blue, symbolising the introduction of new technologies and technical advances, and green for optimism, fresh ideas and commitment to protecting the environment.

Danny Lucas (pictured at the Olympic opening ceremony) executive chairman and managing director, said: “The new Lucas brand clearly identifies who we are and what we stand for and will provide everyone that does business with us with a strong and memorable identity to associate with the Lucas team.

"These are exciting times under the new Lucas brand, bringing us together and taking us forward as the complete fit out and finishing service to all of our clients.”

Sam Lucas, from Gravesend, founded the business in 1969. The award-winning firm has a blue-chip client list and works on large scale structures such as Heathrow Terminal 5, The O2, Westfield Stratford City, the Shard and the Olympic Stadium.

Lucas employees provided a guard of honour for rower and torchbearer Sir Steve Redgrave at the opening ceremony. It was a finalist in the Kent Excellence in Business Awards 2011 and winner of Construction News Specialists Award 2012 for Finishing and Fit Out.
