Brighter job prospects for the disabled

COMPANIES are being urged to provide more opportunities for people with disabilities in the workplace.
Kent Supported Employment, part of Kent County Council, wants more businesses to provide equal access to employment opportunities.
Shepway District Council has been recognised as an employer of excellence by the group for supporting diversity in the workplace.
Duncan Rogers, from Lydd, began voluntary work at the district council in September 2004. He now has paid work two mornings a week in the benefits section.
Benefits pre-assessment team leader Melanie Hamill said: "Duncan's placement here was set up with the help of Kent Supported Employment. It's great having Duncan on the team and I would urge local companies to look at the opportunities they might have for disabled people."
