INSPIRATIONAL javelin star Steve Backley, one of the most successful British athletes ever, is spearheading a campaign to motivate Kent business people.
Steve, who lives in Chislehurst, has teamed up with guru Malcolm Palmer to set up Javelin Business Strategies and run events across the region.
The Kent event is on Wednesday, September 27 at the London Golf Club, Brands Hatch.
The morning session focuses on How to Get Everything You Ever Wanted from Your Business and the afternoon session on How to Get the Best from Your Team. Both will speak at each session with the overall theme of Aim High, Prepare, Plan, Deliver, Achieve.
Steve broke the world javelin record three times and is a one-time world athlete of the year. He spent 20 years as a top athlete, winning medals at three Olympics.
He retired after the 2004 Olympics in Athens and now mentors talented young athletes, as well as giving motivational talks to managers and staff to help them achieve their true potential.
He said: "Whilst I relish the chance to act as a mentor to some of the new crop of young athletes, many of the skills I have learned are as applicable to industry as they are to sport.
"Like British athletics, businesses sometimes go through hugely successful times and then lose their way.
"Success in any walk of life starts with careful and accurate planning. It is about staying motivated whilst in pursuit of your dreams."
