A NEW networking business group has been launched covering Herne Bay, Whitstable and the surrounding areas.

The St George's chapter of Business Network International signed up more members and generated business estimated at £5,000 during its launch breakfast last month.

It embraces a wide range of local businesses including a supplier of interior blinds, Internet designer and independent financial advisor and is looking to expand to 45 local businesses.

It is the 16th BNI chapter in Kent and joins a network in which members are encouraged to give business to fellow members. Meetings are held at Chestfield Golf Club on Wednesday mornings.

"We only accept one person from each trade or profession," said leader David Lester. "So anyone who joins will be able to lock out all their competitors."
