Coach company The Kings Ferry is launching a new service aimed at Maidstone commuters.
The Gillingham-based fleet will pick up workers at a number of locations in the town, as well as Grove Green and Weavering.
It will drop commuters off at stops throughout London, including Canary Wharf, Fenchurch Street, Millennium Bridge and Embankment.
The service, which starts on Monday, October 5, costs less than £10 a day. The company is targeting commuters who, it believes, are anxious to break away from high-cost rail travel.
The company says its four-week ticket is £268, £133 less than the cheapest train ticket and an annual ticket is £2,395, £1,785 less than the cheapest rail alternative. The Kingsferry has a guaranteed seat policy.
It is also pushing the luxury extras on board its coach fleet, which include climate control, hot drinks, power sockets and a commuter app.
A new vehicle has been allocated to the Maidstone route.
"Our expertise is built upon almost 40 years of business and we hope commuters will enjoy both the quality of the service on offer and the financial savings too..." - Ian Fraser, The King's Ferry
The venture into Maidstone marks a major milestone for The Kings Ferry, which has operated tens of millions of commuter journeys since the company was founded back in 1968.
The company has ploughed £19 million back into its services the past five years and has gone from strength to strength in recent years, including the expansion of its award-winning network into Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire.
Managing director Ian Fraser said: “The Kings Ferry has operated tens of millions of commuter journeys directly into the heart of London for decades and we’re really delighted to launch our new Maidstone service.
"Our expertise is built upon almost 40 years of business and we hope commuters will enjoy both the quality of the service on offer and the financial savings too. We’re really looking forward to welcoming people on board.”
To mark the launch of the new Maidstone service, The Kingsferry is offering all new customers a two-week free trial or eight weeks for the price of four.
The company also has a “trade in” ticket offer for commuters making the move from the train or other coach services.
