Dozens of university jobs at risk

The University for the Creative Arts has three campuses in Kent

Eighty staff at the University for the Creative Arts (UCA), which has three campuses in the county, could lose their jobs next month.

The cuts, identified following a staff review, would save £750,000 across its five sites in Kent and Surrey, including at Rochester, Maidstone and Canterbury.

A statement said the cuts would secure its long-term sustainability and allow it to continue investing in the student learning experience.

Bosses are currently in consultation with trade unions to explore a full range of options aimed at minimising compulsory redundancies, including relocating staff.

Final decisions are expected in February.

The university - which changed its name from the University College for the Creative Arts (UCCA) last year - employs 840 people across its five campuses.
