Professor Peter Gregory is the new chief executive of East Malling Research (EMR).

As well as taking charge of the world-renowned research station, Peter Gregory also becomes professor of Global Food Security at the University of Reading.

Prof Gregory succeeds Dr Mike Solomon, and will spend four days a week at EMR, with a day at the University of Reading's new Centre for Food Security.

He said: "EMR's outstanding research is a key element of the UK's future food and farming excellence."
