More than 100 budding entrepreneurs have been helped by a business advice network set up at the Kent History and Library Centre in Maidstone.

The Kent Libraries' Business & IP Centre (BIPC) is part of the British Library's national network of centres across the country.

They have been set up to advise start-up ventures, inventors and anyone with a business idea on how to make their dream a reality.

First started in October after receiving £627,000 of government funding, the centre was officially opened this month.

It offers the opportunity for one-to-one consultation sessions and practical business advice.

Cutting the ribbon was Mike Hill, Kent County Council's cabinet member for community and regulatory services.

He explained: “BIPC Kent is transforming the way ideas grow into successful businesses. It is supporting a thriving community of bright and inspiring people in Kent by partnering with the library service and offering insights and access to free resources, training and events.

“Offering valuable support to the county’s many entrepreneurs who need a little help and advice will make sure their businesses have the best chance of success.”
