A free event will take place later this month focusing on the potential impact of blockchain and cryptocurrency - like BitCoin - technologies for the county's businesses.
The event, for SMEs, will take place at the University of Kent's Canterbury campus - organised by its Kent Business School.
Blockchain, used by cryptocurrencies as a form of global, digital, ledger, is seen by many as the next major step forward for our embracing of advanced technologies with uses for everyone from financial institutions to retailers.
The event, the latest in its Business Soundbite series, will feature guest speaker Yavin On, the CEO at cryptocurrency firm Cointelligence.
He has 20 years’ experience working in the technology industry. He will provide a basic overview of blockchain and cryptocurrencies, such as Bitcoin, and how they could benefit SMEs and how to carry out due diligence when considering using these emerging technologies.
There will also be input from Max Koghut, a PhD candidate studying at Kent Business School, who is investigating blockchain’s impact on business relationships, particularly for ‘smart contracts’ that are underpinned by blockchain technology.
The event takes place on Thursday, April 25 at the Sibson Building from 5pm.
It is free to attend but registration in advance, online, is necessary.
