The University of Greenwich is to create five academic jobs at its Chatham Maritime campus.

As part of a £1 million investment, it is seeking candidates with expertise in nursing, teaching, architecture, education and law.

The School of Science is looking for senior lecturers in sports sciences, biomedical sciences and computational chemistry. There are also jobs on offer at the university's Medway-based School of Enginering, which is to appoint lecturers in sustainable electrical power engineering as well as information and communications technology.

Altogether 37 new posts have been advertised in the university this year. The university says this reflects continuing high demand from students for places at Greenwich, which recently saw a rise in its satisfaction ratings.

Professor Neil Garrod, deputy vice-chancellor for resources, said: "The University of Greenwich is a great place to work. It offers a stimulating and exciting environment based on attractive, historic campuses in Greenwich, Avery Hill and Medway."

He added: "Greenwich is also a great place to study and I hope that current students, as well as those deciding where to apply to university, will be encouraged by our commitment to invest in their education."
