Two Kent companies have been ranked among Britain’s private companies with the fastest-growing profits over three years.

Clothes retailer Childrensalon, based in Tunbridge Wells, and touch screen display business Sahara Presentation Systems have made it onto the Sunday Times BDO Profit Track 100, due to be published this weekend.

It is among 23 companies in the South East to make it onto the league table, the highest number of any region, employing 7,700 staff and with combined profits of £209 million.

Childrensalon, which employs 202 people, managed an 81% growth in profit to £11 million after launching an Instagram-style website last year to build customer engagement.

Despite it’s strong performance, it saw its rank on the table fall 35 places to 45th compared to last year.

Sahara Presentation Systems was a new entrant in 67th place, with a 68% growth in profits to £3 million.

The firm, which employs 73 people, has installed its interactive touchscreens in school classrooms all over Britain.

This year’s Profit Track 100 companies achieved, on average, profit growth of 82% a year over three years, to a total of £1.5bn in 2014/15.

Stuart Lisle, partner in the southeast at BDO, the title sponsor of the league table, said: “Medium-sized businesses across the UK are thriving, creating one in four jobs and responsible for one third of the country’s total revenue.

“They are seizing the opportunities a recovering economy presents and the most profitable have remained focused on sustainable growth through investment in innovation, diversification and overseas expansion.”
