Saywell Farm Racing

Wannabe racehorse owners can find out how to make their dreams come true by joining EastEnders' Dot Cotton and champion jockey Kieren Fallon at a new stable business.

Saywell Farm Racing, near Hollingbourne, is opening its doors to the public on Sunday for three hours of equine experiences.

There will be pony rides for children, horses showing their paces on the new gallops, music, marquees and refreshments.

Visitors will also be able to see two newly created lakes for wildlife.

Owner John Griffin says June Brown, the actress who plays Dot Cotton in EastEnders, will be joining in the fun, with Kieren Fallon also expected to be there.

Mr Griffin has invested £2 million into transforming the farm into a Kent centre of racehorse training under the guidance of top Irish trainer Eddie Creighton.

Eddie has trained more than 250 winners and left Spain to join Saywell Racing at Wormshill, between Hollingbourne and Sittingbourne.

Visitors will be able to see horses training on the new gallops and talk to experts about how to finance racehorse ownership.

Mr Griffin said the stables had horses for sale that could be trained and looked after at Saywell.

"Everyone thinks it costs an arm and a leg but we've got schemes that the ordinary working many can get involved in," he said.

The Saywell Farm Racing Stables open day starts at 11.00am on April 18.

The entrance to the farm is at the top of Hollingbourne Hill and will be well signposted.
