Law firm Thomson Snell & Passmore has pinched a new partner from one of its rivals as it hires three new lawyers to its commercial group.

Alisa Sweeney has joined the Dartford and Tunbridge Wells based practice from legal heavyweight Cripps LLP, also based in Tunbridge Wells.

This is part of the firm’s significant investment into the commercial group, following the appointment of corporate partner Keith McAllister in September.

Ms Sweeney’s addition will complement the firm’s existing commercial property offering and brings a new focus on retail.

She has extensive experience in the sector, with previous clients including restaurant chain Wagamama. She has also represented a range of real estate investors, including Prudential Funds, government departments and other occupiers.

Ms Sweeney said: “The Thomson Snell & Passmore commercial property team has a fantastic reputation both in the South East and nationally.

“The opportunities and growth the firm has to offer are almost unmatched in the region. I am looking forward to working with the team and developing the retail proposition.”

The commercial group has also added to dispute resolution team by hiring senior associate James Cradick from Stephenson Harwood and associate Jessica Bermingham from Bedell Cristin in Jersey.

Mr Cradick is a former barrister and experienced commercial litigation solicitor, who brings experience in general commercial litigation, arbitration, insurance and commodities work. He has particular expertise in resolving disputes in the commodities, shipping and insurance sectors.

Ms Bermingham has previously worked on multi-million pound trust disputes, advising executors of high-net-worth estates, insolvency matters and a wide range of general commercial matters.

Thomson Snell & Passmore senior partner James Partridge said: “As the economy improves we are seeing an increase in demand from clients for the broad range of services we provide for businesses.
