A new catamaran service is being launched between Dover and Boulogne this summer.
It is being introduced by LD Lines which launched new conventional ferry services from Dover to Boulogne and Dieppe in February.
The new service, which is due to start in early June, will operate using a new, high-speed 112-metre catamaran, which will make the crossing in an hour, travelling at up to 40 knots.
This can carry 417 cars or a combination of lorries and cars, as well as up to 1,200 passengers. It can also take caravans, motor-homes and coaches, as well as foot passengers.
The new craft will increase the number of return sailings between Dover and Boulogne from two to six.
Port of Dover chief executive Bob Goldfield said: "We are delighted to see ferry operators investing in new and exciting tonnage operating from the Port of Dover."
