People across Kent looking to volunteer have a fantastic opportunity to find their perfect placement courtesy of this clever initiative by the Kent Lieutenancy.

Established with KM Media Group in March 2019 and with the full support of Kent County Council, Kent Volunteers helps volunteers find the right kind of placement and brings them easily and safely together.

Volunteering can help you gain confidence by giving you the chance to try something new and build a real sense of achievement.

Those great opportunities are not just for those looking to volunteer. The easy-to-use website is also an ideal platform for charities and community organisations seeking out the right kind of people interested in volunteer work.

According to the most recent figures from The Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, volunteering is still very much in demand across the country.

‘Doing good’ continues to be the average volunteer’s most likely motivation with the top three being ‘I wanted to improve things/help people’ followed by ‘the cause was important to me’ and ‘I had spare time to do it’.

Around 150 volunteers have already registered with Kent Volunteers while nearly 350 placements have been posted by almost 250 different groups, charities and organisations for various opportunities such as community work, retail and trading, administration, events, garden and maintenance as well as driving and transport.

Kent Volunteers is committed to partnering volunteering vacancies with the perfect volunteers in the community and bringing them together.

“Kent Volunteers fills a much-needed gap in our county because it links those who can to those that need,” said Paul Auston who is the Lead Deputy Lieutenant of Kent for Volunteering.

“This fantastic initiative of the Lord Lieutenant creates a simple ‘handshake’ and takes a vital step forward to benefit all of us.”

“When it comes to volunteering, most reliance is still on word of mouth despite a vast majority of people wanting to help others around them.

“Our goal was to create a simple and free website that would bring together willing volunteers to groups seeking a helping hand.”

Volunteering is a brilliant way to look after your mental health and make new friends along the way!

Recent government figures reveal that there are over 170,000 registered charities in England with most operating without paid staff.

If you are interested in volunteering or are on the lookout for the right kind of volunteers, then visit the official website here or email hello@kentvolunteers.org.uk.
