Manston airport: Flight training company TG Aviation in High Court to bid for injunction to allow them to use runway

A flight training company based at Manston airport is back in the High Court today in a bid to get an injunction against the closure of the site.

TG Aviation launched a case against the Thanet airfield's owners Kent Facilites Limited in an attempt to gain permission to use the runway.

The firm has been based at Manston for more than 30 years, but has been forced to move its business operations to Lydd airport - despite having 50 years left on their lease at the airfield.

The case was adjourned last week after judge Mrs Justice Asplin granted more time to gather evidence to Kent Facilites Limited, owned by Stagecoach founder Ann Gloag.

Manston airport was closed last month after its owners said running it was no longer "financially viable", at a cost of nearly 150 jobs.

It is understood to have been losing £10,000 a day.

The licence to fly from the site was withdrawn by the Civil Aviation Authority following a request from the owners after its closure.
