Gavin Tyler has been elected as the new managing partner at Tunbridge Wells-based Cripps Harries Hall LLP.

He takes over from Jonathan Denny, who has held the post for the past 23 years and is now stepping down from full-time practice.

Senior partner Michael Stevens commented said: "Jonathan has led the firm with a clear vision and sound judgement to become one of the South East’s leading legal practices with a growing client base both within the region and nationally.

"As a key member of our senior management team for a number of years Gavin has been integral in driving the firm’s strategy forward. He has a passion for inspiring, motivating and developing our people, supporting the local community and, most importantly, for providing an excellent service to our clients. Cripps will continue to flourish under Gavin’s leadership."

After studying law at the University of Manchester, Mr Tyler trained as a general litigator. He joined Cripps in 1984 and has gained experience in all aspects of business related disputes, specialising in employment law since 2002. He became a partner in 1990. From 2004-2010 he was a member of the firm’s Partnership Board, and became head of the corporate division in 2008.

"I am inheriting a very strong and well-managed practice from Jonathan, and I intend to build on these foundations,’ he said.

Mr Tyler added:"I will be ensuring that Cripps continues to innovate and develop our services to our clients as well as strengthening our relationships with them."

Mr Denny was appointed as Cripps’ first managing partner in 1990 and is standing down at the end of his fifth term in office. He will continue to be involved with the firm’s business strategy as a non-executive director on its Partnership Board.
