The Dover Harbour Board tugs salute the ship's arrival

THE newest cross-Channel ferry Maersk Dover sailed into Dover Harbour on Monday morning.

She is the third and last of the new fleet of ships introduced by Norfolk Line on the Dover-Dunkerque route. The Maersk Dunkerque arrived in November, followed by the Maersk Delft in February.

The latest ship, which arrived from the shipyard in Korea where she was built, will undergo trials during the next few days and take on stores, ready to start operations on Sunday.

Dover Harbour Board tugs used their water cannons in salute as the ship sailed into the port.

The new ships can each carry up to 200 cars, 780 passengers and 120 freight vehicles and can cross from Dover to Dunkerque in just under two hours.
