Waste business Viridor has extended its contract with Kent County Council to pick up kerbside recycling from households across west and mid Kent.

The company already processes about 60,000 tonnes of paper, card, plastic bottles, cans and glass collected across seven districts in the county at its facility in Crayford, Dartford.

Its latest contract commences in July and will run for two years, with the option of a two-year extension.

Kent County Council said the new deal was awarded after a “comprehensive procurement exercise”.

Viridor director of business development Chris Jonas said: “By working together we are able to increase the amount of material that Kent recycles by using a state-of-the-art materials recycling facility and also increase the amount of high quality recyclate entering the manufacturing sector in our ever more circular economy.”
