An £8 million luxury health spa and gym has opened in 16 acres of parkland grounds.

The Reynolds Retreat in Borough Green, Sevenoaks, is the vision of former Kent ballet dancer Emma Reynolds and husband Jason.

The couple, who have run health clubs in the county for 20 years, fell in love with Basted House in Harrison Road, a Victorian country house which they have transformed into a 25,000 sq ft fitness spa.

It features a gym, chlorine-free infinity pool, and a range of classes like bokwa, pilates and yoga.

Mrs Reynolds said: “We feel we have created a club which has broad appeal, whether we receive a member who wants to gain more vitality, kick-start a healthy weight loss programme or simply relax or those who have an ultimate endurance and fitness goal such as completing a triathalon.

The site also features the Waterleaf Restaurant, led by Maidstone-born Michelin chef Mark Sergeant, who also owns Rocksalt in Folkestone.

The restaurant takes it name from the waterleaf paper made at Basted Mill – the paper mill which was based on the site – and is open to members and non-members.

Reynolds Group also runs spas in Bexley, Rainham and Sittingbourne.

The company was named Large Business of the Year at the KEiBAs last year.
