A Kent web management firm is to create 50 jobs after being given the go-ahead for a new office extension.

GForces, based in Bearsted, near Maidstone, is to take on the new staff as part of a growth strategy and to maintain its leading position in the web sector.

The new Caring Lane extension, approved by Maidstone council, will increase the company’s headquarters to around 15,000 square feet and provide open-plan office, meeting and training rooms, staff bistro, shower facilities, and hi-tech digital media suite.

The firm intends to reduce extra traffic impact by encouraging cycling to work, car-sharing and flexible working hours. It has also promised landscaping using native plant species, and ecological features to support wildlife.

Managing director Giles Smith said: "Following a period of close cooperation and consultation with Maidstone Borough Council, we’re delighted that the planning panel has come to this decision. We can now immediately start construction of the extension and undertake the first phase of recruitment.

"We are delighted to be in a position to create a substantial number of new full-time jobs. These skilled roles will undoubtedly be of great value to the local job market, giving fantastic opportunities to the county’s most talented individuals."

He added: "We want to attract the brightest and the best, so these jobs will come with competitive salaries well above the county average, helping to further stimulate the local economy."
